| 5. July 2010: Kolab Server 2.2.4 & ActiveSync Packages for 2.2.4 available |
|
Version 2.2.4 of the server for the Kolab Groupware Solution released & ActiveSync packages available for general testing Last week the 2.2.4 security & minor enhancement release of the server for the Kolab Groupware Solution was released. The release updates the packages of ClamAV, OpenSSL, Apache and PHP, as well as fixes various security issues. An update is recommended for all users. In addition, all installations of 2.2.4 outside the United States of America can now install the optional Z-Push packages. ATTENTION: For installations in the United States of America these packages cannot be provided at the current point in time due to an export restriction according to section 8 of the GNU General Public License (GPL) on Z-Push itself. Kolab Systems is working with the Z-Push upstream on this and other issues, and we are confident the issue should soon be resolved. These packages provide ActiveSync capability for the Kolab Groupware Solution, allowing users to connect ActiveSync enabled devices such as mobile phones using Maemo/Meego, Android, Symbian, Windows Mobile, and the iPhone. This support is still under development, and is not recommended for production environments yet. Final packages are expected for autumn 2010. Currently these packages are known to provide synchronization of Contacts, Calendar, Tasks and access to Email for all phones and devices the developers and testers at Libertech and Kolab Systems AG were able to get access to. Your mileage may vary. If it does, please inform the developers mailing list about any issues you may have discovered and the specific model of phone used. The official 2.2.4 announcement is available here, the original announcement for the in-official Z-Push packages with more information is available here. |
